Ravelry Featured Photo

Ravelry requested my permission to use one of my photos in their Featured Photos section....Jacob's Sweater.  How could I say no?  This is the whole shot...

I knitted this sweet cardigan for one of my brother Bob's co-worker's new son, Jacob.  The pattern I referenced was Lion Brand's Fairy Tale Cardi using Lion Brand Baby's First Yarn (Splish Splash and Cotton Ball).  Then for a bit of baby boy bling, I stacked dark blue star buttons over plain white round ones.  There was yarn left over ad libbed the hat to match.

I'm inspired to add to my project gallery now...

New Discover Knit Class

Learn to knit with two colors in the round.
GRAPHIC GRID HEADBAND.

Excellent for those who want to learn to
work with multiple colors and
knit in the round on circular needles.
Best for those who have mastered the knit and purl stitches.

Makes a great gift for most anyone.

This Fair Isle project calls for
two contrasting colors of Patons Classic Wool
and a US 7 - 16" circular needle.
Each project does not take up whole skeins.
If you'd like to make up a several to gift,
consider buying several colors to mix and match.

If you are interested in making this project in class,
please leave a comment below or email me.

The classes are self-selected.  If you need direction, please enter your question in the comments box below.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Because knitting takes time and we will be working with small needles and thin yarns, it is not likely you will finish in SOCKS II and III.  Although all skills will be demonstrated, you will need to knit at home and/or attend additional classes to complete your socks.

The Sock Series -- SOCKS I, II, III

THREE LEARN-TO-KNIT SOCKS CLASSES
at Michaels | Wayne

These classes are for Intermediate Knitters.  This is not a beginner learn to knit class.
Minimally, you must be comfortable with knit and purl.
Experience with ribbing, increasing, decreasing and double pointed needles is helpful.
The classes are self-selected.  If you need direction, please ask.
 Susan at sus.d.bella@gmail.com.

Each class is sold individually.  Each class will be offered twice at Michaels in Wayne -- once on a Sunday evening and again on a Tuesday night.   Samples and supply lists are to come.

Discover Time for Knit - SOCKS I
Sunday, March 25 from 4–6:30 pm OR Tuesday, April 3 from 6–8:30 pm

Suggested Prerequisite:  Experience knitting with double pointed needles.  No experience with dpns?  Email me and enroll in a class earlier in March -- regardless of topic -- and I'll start you on an easy fingerless glove pattern to get you ready.

Working with double pointed needles, we will make a "sock swatch" in a worsted weight yarn (CYC #4) that will cover all the elements of sock architecture.   Make two and you'll have a pair of baby socks to gift or donate.  Solos make great gift wrap embellishments or holiday tree decorations for new babies.

Discover Time for Knit - SOCKS II
Sunday, April 29 from 4–6:30 pm OR Tuesday, May 1 from 6–8:30 pm

Suggested Prerequisite:  Experience knitting on double pointed needles is most helpful but not required.

Working with two circular needles and a dk weight yarn (CYC #3), we will begin work on an adult woman size "footie."  All aspects of this sock's architecture will be demonstrated.

Discover Time for Knit - SOCKS III
Sunday, June 3 from 4–6:30 pm OR Tuesday, June 5 from 6–8:30 pm

Suggested Prerequisite:  Socks I or II or experience knitting on double pointed needles or two circular needles at once.

Knit a basic adult woman size sock in sock weight yarn (CYC #1 or #2).  All elements of this sock architecture will be demonstrated.  Sock Architecture means -- a stretchy cast on, knitting the leg, heel flap, short rowing the heel cup, picking up stitches and creating the gusset, decreasing to the foot, and then the toe, and finally the grafting the toes.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  You will very likely finish one sock swatch in SOCKS I.  Because knitting takes time and we will be working with smaller needles and thinner yarn, it is not likely you will finish in SOCKS II and III.  Although all skills will be demonstrated, you may need to attend additional classes to complete your socks.
